David Nelson – Managing Director
BEc, GradDipAppFin, MBA
As the Managing Director of Divergent Capital, David has overall responsibility for sourcing, reviewing, negotiating and managing the group's venture capital investments. David’s blend of experience in financial services, consulting to large corporates, and getting his hands dirty working in young shoestring businesses provides an excellent balance for his role at Divergent.
Prior to Divergent, David spent time as a management consultant. Having worked both freelance and for A.T. Kearney, David led a number of client projects through the sales, planning and delivery phases achieving significant benefits for companies such as BT LookSmart and AusRegistry. During this time he gained deep experience in understanding and refining the core value proposition of a business and aligning corporate capabilities to rapidly changing market conditions. He has also worked on developing strategies for the positioning of the Telstra subsidiary telstra.com, merger and acquisition preparation for the AMP and a corporate restructure for Zurich Australia.
David brings Divergent’s portfolio companies seasoned financial and analytical skills; strong strategic and business planning experience; and a strong network of industry contacts within the Australian finance and business sectors.
David is a director of a number of Divergent’s portfolio companies including Inovia (previously PCT Filer), and Genos.
David has a Bachelor of Economics from Adelaide University, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia, and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
Ryan Glick – Director

Ryan Glick founded Divergent Capital in 1999 and today is involved in a number of businesses at various stages of development.
He combines very strong analytical skills with an entrepreneurial flare that has enabled him to co-found numerous successful businesses.
In 1997 Ryan founded BlueFire Corporation which pioneered managed services in Australia becoming one of Australia's leading players in this space before being sold to LSE listed multinational Dimension Data in 2008.
Simultaneously to this, in 2003 Ryan founded Outliving distributing giftware to retailers in Australia. Today Outliving is one of Australia's largest giftware wholesalers supplying Myer, David Jones, Officeworks, Domayne, Freedom, Cotton On, General Pants, Peter Alexander, Gazal, Australian Geographic, Pillowtalk, Peters of Kensington, Top 3 by Design, and many more including hundreds of boutique gift stores in Australia.
Ryan’s core skills are in branding, business systems, financial management, and deal structuring. The fact that his experience has ranged from IT to retail provides him with a broad perspective and deep understanding of both consumers and corporations when evaluating business opportunities for Divergent.
Ryan has a Bachelor of Commerce (Actuarial) from Macquarie University and is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
